Engraved Permabrass Plaques

Engraved Permabrass Plaque

Permabrass is a term given for an anodising process applied to aluminium. It is a gold colour and has the apperance of being like brass. The big advantage of using permabrass anodised aluminium in preference to brass is that it doesn't tarnish. These plaques are fast replacing the traditional solid brass plaques as the most popular chioce.

Permabrass anodising, unlike normal gold anodising processes, retains it's gold colour for many years. Tests by Unisearch Limited showed that samples exposed to UV irradiation equivalent in total duration to 50 years of Sydney exposure had no discolouration.

It is worth noting however that under the gold anodised surface is the silver aluminium substrate so if there is the possibility that vandals may put deep scratches in the plaque (revealing the silver substrate) then it may be better to use solid brass. Like all engraved plaques however, no matter what the surface becomes like, you will always be able to read them as the letters are engraved deeply into the material.
